Fair Usage Policy (FUP)

Last updated: 27 July 2026

This Fair Usage Policy applies to PRIME ICT 'uncapped', 'unlimited', and shared-bandwidth services. It ensures that all customers enjoy a fair, stable experience by managing congestion and preventing abuse.

1. Purpose

A small number of users generating disproportionate traffic can degrade service for others. This policy sets out how we manage usage to keep the network fair and reliable without imposing arbitrary data caps on legitimate use.

2. How It Applies

This FUP applies to consumer and business uncapped or unlimited services unless your contract specifies a committed or guaranteed rate. Capped or burstable services are governed by their stated allowances.

3. Network Management & Congestion

We may apply traffic management during congestion, including prioritising real-time traffic (voice, video, interactive) over bulk transfers, and shaping non-critical protocols at peak times to protect overall performance.

4. Usage Thresholds

Uncapped services are not limited by a fixed quota, but persistent usage well beyond normal residential or business patterns may trigger management. Where applicable, your contract or product page will state any threshold and the management applied (for example, throttling of bulk download protocols during peak hours).

5. Service Prioritisation

  • Real-time traffic such as VoIP and video conferencing is prioritised for quality.
  • Bulk transfer protocols may be deprioritised during congestion.
  • Business-grade and committed-rate services receive priority over best-efforts tiers.

6. Abuse Prevention

Use that disrupts others or the network — including running public servers on residential plans, continuous high-volume downloads, or reselling bandwidth without authorisation — may be managed, rate-limited, or referred under our Acceptable Use Policy.

7. Monitoring

We monitor aggregate usage patterns to manage the network. We do not inspect the content of your communications except where necessary for security, fault diagnosis, or legal compliance.

8. Changes

We may update this FUP as network technology and usage patterns evolve. Material changes affecting your product will be communicated where practicable.
