Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

This Acceptable Use Policy governs your use of PRIME ICT internet, network, hosting, and managed services. It exists to protect the integrity, security, and availability of our network and the wider internet community.

1. Purpose & Scope

This AUP applies to all customers and users of our services and to traffic passing over our network. It supplements, and is incorporated into, our Terms & Conditions. Breach of this AUP may result in suspension or termination.

2. Prohibited Activities

  • Sending spam or unsolicited bulk electronic communications.
  • Distributing or hosting malware, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious code.
  • Phishing, fraud, impersonation, or harvesting credentials.
  • Copyright or trademark infringement, including pirated software or media.
  • Participating in or facilitating distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
  • Hosting or distributing illegal content under South African law.
  • Network abuse: unauthorised access, port scanning, sniffing, or exploitation of third-party systems.
  • Cryptocurrency mining where not authorised under your service plan.
  • Excessive bandwidth abuse beyond your plan or contrary to the Fair Usage Policy.
  • Operating open relays or open proxies that facilitate abuse.
  • Interference with our monitoring, traffic management, or security controls.

3. Bandwidth & Network Management

We may manage, shape, or prioritise traffic to protect network performance and fairness. Uncapped or unlimited services remain subject to our Fair Usage Policy. See the Fair Usage Policy for details on thresholds and congestion management.

4. Customer Responsibilities

  • Secure your devices, credentials, and email to prevent abuse.
  • Ensure your equipment is not compromised or used to send spam.
  • Take responsibility for content you host or transmit.
  • Cooperate with abuse investigations and remediate issues promptly.

5. Monitoring & Enforcement

We may monitor traffic patterns and investigate suspected abuse. We may take action including warnings, rate-limiting, port blocking, suspension, or termination, and may share information with relevant authorities where required by law.

6. Consequences of Violation

  • First or minor breaches may result in a warning and a timeframe to remediate.
  • Serious or repeated breaches may result in immediate suspension.
  • Continued or severe abuse may result in termination of the service.
  • You remain liable for all charges during any suspension caused by your breach.

7. Reporting Abuse

To report abuse originating from our network, email support@prime-ict.co.za with relevant logs, timestamps, and source details. We aim to acknowledge abuse reports within one business day.

8. Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Continued use of the services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
